Bolsover Big Mile

The Bolsover Big Mile took place during National School Sport week at the beginning of July 2009, with 22 of the primary schools in Bolsover district taking part.

Nearly 3500 teachers, parents and children took part, completing a mile by either walking, running or a combination of the two. Some of the schools encouraged participants to raise funds for the Childrens Hospital Charity.

The project was co-ordinated by John Barker and colleagues within Bolsover & District School Sport Partnership and Bolsover District Council. Funding for the event was secured from Sport England’s Community Investment Fund.

The schools that took part were:

BOLSOVER SCHOOL

Bolsover Infants, Bolsover Juniors, Duckmanton and Palterton.

FREDERICK GENT SCHOOL

Glebe, Green Infants, John King Infants, Longwood Infants and Kirkstead Junior.

HERITAGE SCHOOL

Barlborough, Creswell Junior and Whitwell.

SHIREBROOK SCHOOL

Park Infant, Park Junior, Stubbin Wood and Whaley Thorns.

TIBSHELF SCHOOL

Morton Primary and Townend Junior.
